Meet the Team – Nelson Reid, Design Coordinator
Nelson Reid officially joined the Inertia team as a Design Coordinator just over two months ago. With over 15 years of experience in civil, hydraulic, structure building design and project management, Nelson works in our Industrial team alongside his father, Hilton Reid.
“Prior to the Hilton Reid Consulting and Inertia Engineering merger in 2020, I had worked alongside Dad for over 10 years. I thought I would branch out and test the waters, and declined to join Dad straight away when he made the move to Inertia”
“Earlier this year Josh reached out directly offering me a casual position in the Industrial team. I thought, why not? As I started to come into the office more and more it just felt right. I could feel the culture straight away. Everyone was really nice and welcoming, so it was easy to make the jump and officially sign on”
“In my role as Design Coordinator, it has been nice to step away from the drafting side of things to focus more on design. I am working on similar projects to those under HRC within the industrial space. My every day consists of liaising with council and clients on the civil and hydraulic design aspects of our subdivision and warehouse projects.”
Before settling into the engineering consultancy game, Nelson sold everything and hit the road with his family to housesit all around Australia for five years.
“We went as far north as the Whitsundays and as far down as the bottom of Victoria. We stayed in well over 50 homes of every shape and size, looking after all sorts of pets; a huge python, horses, lizards and of course cats and dogs. My eldest girl was about two years old when we headed off, and our youngest actually came into the world when we were travelling around!”
Thank you for sharing your journey so far Nelson, we can’t wait to see what the next 10 years bring!
