International Women in Engineering Day – Future Engineer

To spread the word that “engineering is awesome” to our future engineers, we were delighted to host a talented female student from Indooroopilly State High School in the office. 💼💡

🌟Thank you for joining us, Sharnel! 🌟

Structural Project Lead, Kate Heliotis, explored design processes and demonstrated how we collaborate with other consultants to create innovative solutions. From initial concepts to final implementation, Sharnel got to see first hand how structural engineering plays a crucial role in shaping our built environment.

After the session, they stepped outside the office to explore the marvels along Brisbane River that truly showcase how our city is “Enhanced by Engineering” (This year’s INWED theme). They visited the Milton Ferry Terminal, a flood-resilient structure with detachable gangway, and the Western Creek flood protection gate, highlighting how engineering enhances urban resilience and sustainability.

Here’s to inspiring the next generation of female engineers with hands-on experiences and showing them the limitless possibilities in our field! 🚀🌍
