Coordination = Success for Valley Heart Project!

We’ve had the pleasure of being involved in a significant urban renewal project, coined ‘Valley Heart’ over the last two years.  The development includes several existing buildings within Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, including the Burlington and TC Beirne buildings, which extend between the Brunswick Street and Chinatown Malls plus a multi-level carpark on Duncan Street as well as a two storey commercial building on the corner of Wickham Street and Barry Parade.  The overall vision for the project is to revitalise tired assets, thus turning around an underutilised area into a vibrant place for people to work, meet and play.

We were engaged by the client prior to the purchase of the buildings, working through the feasibility stage, onto rectification and base build works and finally fitout to various tenancies.  This has allowed us to showcase our full range of structural services, and ultimately add the most impact to the project.  These services have included existing building condition assessment, detailing and inspection of structural repairs and design of new building elements.

The success of the project has been driven by close co-ordination with the design team, and in particular, the building contractor during site works.  This has resulted in site works being able to be progressed on program, via fast assessment of latent conditions and a collaborative approach to obtaining practical structural solutions.

We are excited to see the transformation of this area as the project progresses.
