New Community Hub For Moreton Bay Region

Both Inertia’s Structural and Civil teams are working on an exciting new mixed use development in Petrie with McNab, Cottee Parker Architects and ADP Consulting. Situated across the way from the new Sunshine Coast University Campus at the former Petrie Mill site, and adjacent to a busy train station, this development will serve as a new vibrant community hub for Moreton Bay region residents and commuters.

Split across 3 stages, the new complex includes large open spaces for public use, a supermarket, food and beverage stores and retail.  Additionally, the project will feature a 4 level medical tower, a 7 level commercial tower, 6 level student accommodation and a two storey basement which will go right to the boundary of the train station and the main road.

The structural team will work to facilitate connectivity and accessibility throughout the many different components in this design and ensure that they work together to create an inviting, functional and safe space for all members of the community.

The civil component of this design has some particularly complex aspects which will require innovative thinking in order to provide the most effective design solutions. We will be undertaking a road design and service relocation for a new four-way signalised intersection, as well as road widening on both local and state-controlled roads to allow for increased traffic in the area. Secondly, we will be providing trunk stormwater infrastructure upgrades for the greater catchment, and trunk stormwater sewerage infrastructure to run underneath a Queensland Rail railway line.

We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting new development and are looking forward to sharing more updates soon.
