Meet our Associates – Jed Michel

Jed is a Chartered RPEQ engineer with over 13 years of diverse project experience within a variety of sectors throughout Australia and the UK. He particularly shines in his communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, striving to surpass clients’ expectations by seeking out the best solutions with a proactive and collaborative approach.

“I started my career in civil engineering, working in Brisbane and the Sunny Coast. A few years after university I decided civil wasn’t for me, went travelling overseas and then began working as a structural engineer when I returned. Eventually I moved over to London, where I found my passion for high-end residential projects,” said Jed.

We often say Jed has lived nine lives, having enough travel adventures and life experiences to fill volumes of books. Whether it’s surviving avalanches in Italy or camping above the fjords in Norway, Jed always has a story to tell.

“When I returned to Australia in 2019, a friend recommended I check out Inertia. The company was 28 people strong when I started working in the Buildings team on some large-scale commercial projects. When I approached management wanting to get involved in smaller-scale residential projects, they were extremely supportive in making the move across to the housing team. In 2021, I got the opportunity to take the team lead role, which has been a fantastic experience. The team is now nine people strong and going from strength to strength, taking on a range of projects ranging from high-end houses through to sporting clubs and childcare centres”

“My favourite things about Inertia are the culture, the people and the opportunities that are presented by working in a growing company. Inertia definitely has the best culture of any company I’ve ever worked for, and that is a credit to the Culture Committee and the management team who have worked hard to create a workplace that is fun, friendly and inclusive. The leadership team is open to supporting your personal goals and objectives and encourages everyone to try and reach those career aspirations.”
