Kingsford Tce

Anticipation is growing as Kingsford Terrace’s “Taylor” building at Corinda, is nearing the exciting milestone of being topped out. With the completed construction of the two adjacent senior living buildings, Inertia’s Team Lead, Kurt Annand reflected on the progression of the overall development, “Having been involved with the planning, design, and construction on all three buildings, it has been great to see the concepts and hard work come to fruition. Being able to incorporate the lessons learned across the three projects and build on the relationships made with a consistent design and delivery team has been a real pleasure.”

AT OUR HEADQUARTERS

Inertia’s Director, Scott Clements shares his mid-year summary, as he reflects on the past 12 months of highs and lows that have affected all in the industry. Embracing the challenges has seen our innovative team propelled into positive action and gaining momentum towards an exciting future.

Scott shares, “At our core, we are supporting projects of increasing size, scale, and complexity; projects we have and will deliver with our own unique thinking, passion, and teamwork. From new opportunities in health, education and aged care, to increasingly complex and large civil and structural projects across subdivisions and high-rise developments.”

INERTIA ELEVATE SESSION

Make Everyday Changes to Make a Difference Everyday

This month we had the pleasure of hosting another wonderful Elevate session, with our facilitator, Cathryn Lloyd from Maverick Minds. The theme was, “Make Everyday Changes to Make a Difference Everyday”, and through using an Open Space process, Cathryn guided team members by openly discussing several topics they were willing to share, learn more about and act on.

The feelings in the room were unanimous, and it was said, “I know my topic wasn’t a major one, but it is important, and this seemed the right time to have the conversation across the organisation, and its created much more clarity for me in my work.”

Public declarations of “everyday changes” were made and we look forward to seeing these commitments in action as we work towards making a difference, “everyday”.

INERTIANS OUT AND ABOUT

Big Match

Last week, our Inertians, Kurt Annand, Jed Michel, Joshua Falco, Luke Walton, Scott Clements and Sean Stacey went toe-to toe in an epic Big Match lawn bowls battle with our partners at McNab, giving an opportunity to show off some skills in good spirits and healthy competition. Not only to grab the title, grab some rays but also grab some cash for a worthy cause.

We are proud to support Andrew Corbin, Dan George and the amazing team at McNab who have already raised a whopping $11,227 for the 2023 Variety Bash, a fundraiser for Variety – the Children’s Charity of Queensland. Let’s help them to reach their $20,000 goal, and support the kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability get the assistance they deserve.

We would also like to thank Mitchell Hayne, Carl Garner, Mathew Petchell, Jake Worrall, George Dunn, Ebonie Fox, Vanja Klisura, Dan Craven, and Thomas Wang for joining in the fun!

Inertia's INWED Events

INWED celebrations were a hit in the Inertia kitchen as we hosted PWIP’s Winter get-together on the eve of ‘International Women in Engineering Day’, followed by the fun filled #makesafetyseen Lunch the following day.

Inertia’s Director, Emma Clements inspired us all, as she shared personal experiences with the purpose of empowering women in a male dominated industry. A huge shout out to Stacey Reibelt and her assistant, Priscila Nunes, who championed the lunch event and lastly, thank you, to all those who got involved in celebrating Women in Engineering!

INWED - QMCA Breakfast

Amongst the fun back at the office, was a not to be missed event hosted by QMCA and NAWIC QLD. Inertian’s Emma Clements, Honeylette Ferolin, Callie Omlid and Daniela Nino Carrasco slipped away to join 500 others at the INWED breakfast.

A wonderfully inspiring event, Dawn Watt – Coffey Testing and Regan Crooks – Laing O’Rourke shared their career journey, their inspirations and the mentors who have supported their development, as well as their thoughts on how we can make the industry more attractive to women. An amazing morning that highlighted the contribution women make to every construction and infrastructure project in Queensland.
