Little Locals Early Learning Centre, Auchenflower

Inertia provided the civil and structural engineering to turn a heritage-listed church into a state-of-the-art childcare centre. The church’s original character and charm are retained through its stained-glass windows, exposed rafters, and exposed brick. In order to achieve the centre’s play-based learning philosophy, the new components include a 15m indoor slide, a waterpark, an in-ground trampoline, and a bike track.

The centre has also become Brisbane’s first carbon-neutral early learning facility, committing to sustainability with an annual NoCO2 audit and offsetting emissions through the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Project.
