Mother Duck Early Learning Centre, Ripley Valley
Inertia is providing the civil and structural engineering for this iconic centre is comprised of eight classrooms over three levels.
Sustainable living is at the core of this development, and it is aiming to be the first childcare centre in Australia to do the living building challenge. This is a global green building standard which aims to “create Living Buildings that incorporate regenerative design solutions that genuinely improve the local environment”. 1
Reaching these regenerative design standards has required a lot of collaboration between ourselves, the architect and the client to share ideas about how to get this to come to fruition. Part of this process was using VR technology to turn our drawings into visible spaces which we could actually walkthrough. It’s not something you get to do every day, and taking advantage of this technology was extremely beneficial throughout the design phase.
We have completed our design for this project, and we are looking forward to seeing this iconic project develop in the future.
