Toowong Football Club Fields

The site is situated in an overland flow path, and is at a high risk of flooding from the Brisbane River. During the 2011 flood event, the site experienced flood waters up to 4.1 metres deep.

The proposed earthworks could have had a detrimental flood impact on up to 40 surrounding residential and commercial properties.

We used detailed 2D hydraulic modelling to determine the flooding characteristics for various designs. Using these results, we optimised the proposed earthworks surface, which extended the fields without negatively impacting any surrounding properties within the floodplain.

Our design provided the Toowong Football Club with an extra full sized playing field.
