Brisbane Airport Projects

Inertia was engaged to deliver several projects for Brisbane Airport Corporation, including the Geodis Warehouse and GE Aviation development. These projects include the development of warehouses, offices and associated facilities on existing sites located at Brisbane Airport.

Geodis Warehouse

The project involves the development of a warehouse, office and associated facilities on a 1.2-hectare site within the landside area of the logistics business. The development includes a 4,500m2 warehouse, 300m2 office, 57 carparks and several loading areas.

This land area has several constraints, such as poor founding material, flat land with difficult stormwater and sewer discharge, and underlying contaminated ground. Inertia had to closely coordinate service requirements on-site and understand the cost impacts of design decisions for each.

GE Aviation

Offering jet engines, components and systems for commercial and military aircraft, this project features a new 3,312m2 warehouse set for completion mid-2022.

Being landside located came with its constraints, such as the requirement of extensive earthworks to remove and reinstate existing stockpiled material. This resulted in successfully providing a future works platform for the site and the adjoining developable land. It was crucial to work closely with the Environmental Engineer, to provide an outcome for PFAS contaminated materials on-site and reduce further impacts on the environment.
